Dear Spark Families,
We kicked off our fifth session with energy and enthusiasm! On Fitness Monday, the Sparks Tribe watched an inspiring clip of Usain Bolt breaking his own world record. After a lively discussion about sportsmanship and what it means to race with integrity, our learners headed down to the basement—rain couldn’t stop them! There, they channeled their inner champions and raced one another in their own version of the 100m dash.
In the afternoon, Sparks launched into their Entrepreneurship Quest with a focus on money mastery. They began learning how to count and manage money—an essential skill as they prepare for the upcoming Acton Children's Business Fair.
Community Tuesday started with a thoughtful conversation: What makes a community a community? Learners reflected on the values, connections, and shared goals that bind people together. Later in the day, Sparks turned their attention back to their business fair preparations. Through drawing and writing, they explored their hobbies and interests as inspiration for what they might sell. Then came the fun part: finding a like-minded peer to potentially partner with and start brainstorming a shared store idea.
On Entrepreneurship Wednesday, learners watched a short video featuring three young entrepreneurs from Australia who found success selling simple products like lemonade and homemade jewelry. This sparked a rich discussion about real-life business scenarios and what it means to be a thoughtful, solution-oriented business owner.
Hero’s Visit Thursday brought a special guest to the Tribe: a local arborist and owner of Elmwood Services Inc. Our Hero shared insights on caring for nature, the importance of tree health, and how to safely manage plant and tree removal. Learners were full of questions and curiosity, soaking in this hands-on
perspective from someone who blends entrepreneurship with environmental stewardship.
We wrapped up the week with a cozy Read Aloud Friday, where learners listened to the timeless tale Where The Wild Things Are. For some, it was a beloved reread; for others, a new adventure. Either way, imaginations ran wild as we shared this classic story together.
We’re excited for all that lies ahead in this session and can’t wait to see how each learner’s ideas take shape.
Have a joyful and restful weekend!
