Dear Spark Families,
We had an inspiring first week back for Session Four, filled with engaging discussions, emotional awareness activities, teamwork, and creativity!
Our journey began on Thoughtful Tuesday with a Socratic launch centered around Kindness. The Sparks explored various scenarios, discussing kind and thoughtful ways to respond in different situations. This conversation set a positive tone for reinforcing kindness throughout the studio. In the afternoon, the Sparks participated in an emotional awareness activity called "The Circle of Control." They created circles on paper, placing worries and anxieties they could control inside while placing those beyond their control outside. The Sparks then cut out and discarded the worries they couldn't control and shared their reflections with one another, offering ideas and support on how to manage their concerns.
For Acton Wednesday, the Sparks started the day by reflecting on school spirit and what it means to them. In the afternoon, they embarked on an exciting Math Quest! Working in different teams, they had to count up to a specific number, putting both their mathematical thinking and teamwork to the test.
Thankful Thursday brought another opportunity for meaningful reflection, with a launch focused on gratitude. Each Spark shared what they are thankful for, then expressed their appreciation through artwork, which they proudly displayed on their cubbies. In the afternoon, they participated in a discussion on emotions, identifying which feelings they perceived as positive or challenging and exploring ways to navigate them.
Finally, on Fitness Friday, Sparks engaged in an activity designed to challenge both their bodies and minds. The exercises focused on improving balance and coordination, making for a fun and active conclusion to the week.
We look forward to another exciting week ahead. Wishing everyone a restful and enjoyable weekend!
