This week marks the start of session 4!
This week, we were introduced to the new Quest and Genre! In Quest, Launchpad and Journey collaborate to study medical biology.
On Tuesday, we researched the nervous, circulatory, and respiratory systems. We learned about the brain and spinal cord, the heart and its functions, and the purpose of our lungs.
On Wednesday, we focused on the digestive system, learning the difference between mechanical and chemical digestion and its different organs and structures, such as the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, and liver.
Thursday, we looked at the excretory system. Followed the leftover nutrients, molecules, and water that our bodies don't need as they exit our bodies.
In genre, launchpad began making our podcasts on Monday. We researched different types of podcasts and the different materials a podcaster might use. Eventually, we will even enter our podcasts in a radio show competition!
For Civ, we learned about Chinese Admiral Zheng-He and followed his journey, leading over 20,000 men and 60 ships on seven voyages along the coasts of Indonesia, India, Arabia, and Africa. We also researched the Age of Enlightenment, its heroes like Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Thomas Hobbes, and John Locke, and what we would do if we were in their shoes.
On Friday, we met with Kate, a learner from Acton Verona who had much experience with NGA. Kate met with each Launchpad learner individually and helped us each figure out what we wanted to accomplish regarding our NGA in the future.
We all worked hard to deliver excellent work and learned much about the different subjects we researched!
