It is the second week of session four! The Falcons have dived deeper into medical biology and their apprenticeships: they researched the bodily systems and chose possible apprenticeships this week. Here’s the details:
#1 - Finish learning the bodily systems - Models, research, and more! In the second week of our Medical Biology quest, the learners finished learning about bodily systems. This included making makeshift models of the heart and lungs to explain how they work. They also researched the immune and muscular systems. Check out the weekly photo link for pictures and videos showing their progress.
#2—Dream jobs, deep dives, and 10 options! The apprenticeship badge is in its second week! The learners continue their apprenticeship journeys, asking themselves what their dream and nightmare jobs would be, making lists of ten apprenticeship options, and finally deep-diving into one of their three final options. This included finding the phone number, email, and name of the main person they will contact. It was truly a real-life experience!
#3 - A field trip? Breakfast at Florentine! Finally, to end the week off, on Friday, we went to eat breakfast at Florentine as a reward for getting enough focus stars for our last session. Journey has never done something like this before and it was a great bonding and fun experience!
#4 - Morning Launcher: Moral Dilemmas in Medicine: This week’s Journeys launches sparked deep discussions on ethical challenges in the medical field. Learners debated tough questions: Should a doctor proceed with treatment if they’re only 80% confident in a diagnosis? How is Telemedicine reshaping healthcare? And who would they trust more—an AI doctor or a human doctor when given conflicting treatment plans?
Next week, Journey will take the anticipated field trip to Bubble Planet, start learning about testing in the medical field, and draft their first-ever apprenticeship email. We can't wait to tell you all about it!
