Hello everyone, and welcome to week 2 of session 4! Let us dive into what happened this past week.
Starting with Genre, this week, we focused on writing the script for our podcast. On Monday, we started writing a draft between 400 and 600 words, and on Wednesday, we added the second half of the draft, making it 1000+ words. We made sure that we had good and valuable information about the big questions we chose last week. Some learners added some humor to their script as well.
For Quest, we began to create ideas for making apps. We were split into teams and first picked two apps to research, getting an idea of what we believed were good elements in these apps. With thinking, planning, and drawing it out on paper, we created an app design and wrote a paragraph about what it would do if it were an actual app. Our ideas will be presented to the studio on Monday to have it greenlighted by other Falcons.
For this week's Civ, the topics discussed were focused mainly on nuclear weapons and war as we delved into the history of the Korean War. On Tuesday, we discussed whether we would use atomic bombs at war if we were at war and what we would have done in President Truman's place at the time of the Korean War. And on Thursday, we exchanged views about the North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un and what we would have done in the place of the U.S. President if he threatened to attack us with missiles.
On Wednesday, there was a Hero’s visit! Ortal Saadon, a tour guide in NYC, shared with us her fascinating life story and career path. Ortal demonstrated how vital it is to find your calling and follow your passions, even when the road is bumpy. Ask your child to tell you more about this inspiring visit.
On Monday, we had school council elections. Congratulations to Arete’a and Shahar, who were voted from Journey!
That is all for this week's newsletter. Stay tuned for next week’s, and enjoy the weekend!
