This week started off with the much-awaited field trip to Manhattan! Being the first Journey Field trip of the 2024-25 school year, it was a very fun and exciting experience. Journey had begun the trip on Monday morning, getting off of the bus and into the Museum of Illusions location, where they’d had a great time and took lots of interesting and mind-bending photos. Following that, Journey walked to Chelsea Market, an indoor recreation of a busy urban street market, with more food options than could be counted and an overall enjoyable atmosphere. Finally, Journey visited the “Starbucks Reserve Roastery,” a large indoor exhibit showcasing a lot about Starbucks while also offering many unique drinks not found elsewhere. Overall, the day was really enjoyable, and several other Falcons commented on how it was one of the most successful trips Journey has made.
The excitement from Monday carried over to Wednesday with Journey’s first exhibition of this school year! The hosts had worked really hard prior in preparation, and they’d managed to lead a successful event showcasing Journey’s achievements this session to all the parents and siblings that’d arrived.
Other than that, this week, being the final week of the session, was for compiling badges. This entails learners gathering all their important achievements for genre, quest, and civ and creating a portfolio document for each one. This, so far, has been going very well.
On Thursday, learners gave each other written feedback, known as “360 peer reviews,” regarding their Intentionality, Civility, Leadership, and Excellence as Journey learners.
Fun and simple, this week was a clear success.
